I believe there are universal concepts that every student must learn, but I also want to teach my students in a way that's fun and will encourage them to develop an individual voice. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I find it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I have been teaching since around 2011, after only have been playing guitar for 2 years. I learned very quickly , primarily playing metal and jazz. I played trumpet in band when I was a child, so this helped me learn to sight-read music on guitar. This allowed me to play in the university bands at both schools I attended, mainly playing jazz music. Teaching has spawned a fiery passion that I want to explore and encourage, eventually making it to the University level teaching classes and private lessons. Read More

I have had a long time interest in education, helping students of all ages and skill level. In Nashville he previously taught at the Nashville School of Rock and currently works for Vanderbilt University. As a freelancing musician diversity of skills is an important trait. I have primarily worked as a guitarist in live and studio settings, which in themselves are two different worlds, but have expanded to include audio engineering and production, drawing heavily from my background in theory and composition to make the best of each project I works on. Because I teach only part-time, I have a limited number of students so I'm able to create custom lesson plans for each individual. My goal for a first meeting with any student is to get to know the student. I want to know what music the student is into, what they want to focus on, why they're taking lessons and what their goals are. From there I can create a lesson plan that is a productive balance of fun, intriguing, challenging and fulfiling. Read More
