The most important thing to me as a teacher is keeping my students' passion for music and the instrument of guitar alive. The best way to achieve this is to create a lesson plan specific to each students' desires and goals related to the instrument, as well as setting realistic goals for them each week. Establishing a student's musical interests and goals is essential to developing a fun and engaging lesson plan for them. Read More

I'm a committed and goal-oriented instructor who wants to share the love of music. I still consider myself a student because there are lifetimes of knowledge and experience there is to be had with our beautiful art. In 2012, I graduated from the Martha Ellen Stilwell School Of The Arts for Symphonic Band and Jazz Band where my main instrument was trumpet. I've done session musician work at Wondaland Records, American Sushi and Doppler Studios in Atlanta. Read More

My Bachelor's of Music Ed, and my Master's of Music in Performance are from LSU-Monroe where I was principle in both band and orchestra, and lead trombone in the jazz ensemble. I have taught band in both public and private schools, and have served as Music Director in two churches. I have approximately 30 years experience teaching privately. Read More

I like to tailor my lessons towards the styles that the student is interested, while also teaching about music theory, reading, and any music history that is relevant to the students' interests. For rock and pop music, I find that there are a wealth of songbooks available. For students interested in classical guitar, I like using Christopher Parkening's guitar method; it contains a great deal of useful information and diagrams, as well as a great selection of beginner pieces. I took guitar lessons at age thirteen to expand my musical experience, and while I loved playing classical piano I wanted to be in bands and play rock n' roll. Guitar came very naturally to me and in a matter of months I was writing my own songs and fronting bands. From middle-school to high-school I continued to study guitar and classical piano and began my own teaching business and teaching music is where I finally began to understand sight reading and theory. My teaching style is unique because it revolves around having fun with music. I believe that more traditional forms of teaching can be too dull or too urgent, leading to disinterest. Once you become disinterested, you're far more likely to quit - and I don't want you to quit! Learning to play an instrument is one of the most fulfilling accomplishments that a person can achieve, no matter the age or skill level. Read More

I thrive off of my passion for music, and the same goes for my teaching style. I will take you through every turn of learning your instrument, but the responsibility and the style of learning ultimately relies on how the student will best receive the information. I learned music completely different than the way my best friend and band partner learned how to play - and they were both viable methods. Read More
