My teaching experience starts 6 years ago when I started teaching marching band in Douglasville, Ga. I marched baritone with Spirit of Atlanta in 2013 and 2014. As time progressed, I started to teach music with local schools through Georgia State University and private connections as either a section coach or a private instructor. I urge my students to practice regularly on a consistent schedule; improvement is dependent on this, but I also encourage them to explore. For beginning students I use Faber and John Thompson books. Once the student improves of course we upgrade to more challenging songs and books. For adults I find out what they're interested in and instruct accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and always fun no matter what. I base my teaching method on my strong, enthusiastic, optimistic, patient, and loving character. My experience with vocal coaching started when I was a young girl helping to teach my church's choir parts for songs we had to learn. Once I went to college I joined the Gospel Chorale at Virginia State University where I helped guide the alto section for a month long European Christmas tour. For beginners, on piano I def reccomend Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Also, "My Favorite Solo Album," by Max Eckstein. Once progression and consistency has been developed I always encourage my students to share what they have learned in to a recital performance.
