After studying with Jay for a few years, Marcus moved to Virginia Beach, VA where he learned from players such as Scott Mishoe and Jay Rakes. I start by teaching methods and theories, I like to approach this in lots of different ways so that my students don't get burned out. I use flashcards, interactive games, and songs that my students are familiar with to introduce these concepts. I find that once the student knows the basics, they are quickly able to apply them to any piece of music set in front of them.This gives the student more confidence early on, which lasts because the knowledge of the basics doesn't fade.
