There are moments that I look back and think how amazing is that students start from scratch and now they are able to create music on their favorite musical instrument. Technical development is always an essential element in my teaching but the ultimate goal is to help the students to feel and express music to the very extent their abilities. Often, I focus on the particular struggles a student may go through and I am trying to help them overcome the obstacle that may prevent them to enjoy the music they play. Read More

I've been teaching in one form or another for over 20 years. I ahem also had some really fun mentor relationships as well. One in particular in Mt. Juliet TN. A young man I met at age 10 and is now 21 years old. He had released three records since we first met. I'm very proud of Zach. I've played guitar on over 30 recordings and played over 1,000 shows/concerts. I've charted on the Billboard Chart and my current pop/rock single is #1 in Europe and U.K. on the Euro Indie Top 200! My goal for every student is to experience learning their instruments in an environment that is both encouraging and rewarding. I exhibit patience with the student knowing what it takes to develop new skills and I work hard in helping each student feel at ease in expressing themselves. I have used many different materials over the years, depending on the individual student's needs and desires to play their music. I do stress learning to read music notation so that you can approach with confidence any piece of music that you would like to play. Read More

Breaking larger objectives into smaller, manageable steps allows students to experience regular success, which builds momentum and reinforces the value of consistent practice. I make it a point to revisit these goals frequently, celebrating progress while adjusting expectations as needed to ensure continued growth. Acknowledging accomplishments is a vital part of my teaching philosophy. Even small achievements can have a powerful impact on a student’s motivation and self-esteem. By recognizing effort as well as results, I help students understand that progress is a process and that persistence is just as important as natural ability. Read More

It brings me joy to see one of my students become passionate about music. It is something that can be taught under the right circumstances. With that knowledge, I recognize the importance of guiding progress to his or her own pace. I always set goals and aim to teach something new every lesson. Setting short term goals shows real accomplishments that help fuel students motivation to stay dedicated. As I said before, I am a student as well and I learn a lot by teaching. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. It is so important that each individual student progresses at his or her own ace. I encourage this progress by setting realistic and clear goals for my students at each lesson. When I acknowledge their accomplishments, it helps to fuel the desire to learn of the student and makes them eager to learn more. Once I find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction towards the wants and needs of my students. Read More
