I first started teaching music in 2014. I began as a guitar instructor, then made my way into teaching piano, drums, and bass as well. I believe that the best way to teach a student how to play an instrument is to first teach them how to play music. In my experience I have found that allowing students to try several different instruments and participate in group jams with other musicians teaches them to fall in love with making music. Read More

My teaching began in high school, where friends and friends of friends would hear that I played and ask me to teach them. Back then I did it for free because I had no idea that you could even charge people for that! After teaching on and off for years and years I found that helping people find their passion and get them to the point where they dreamed of is one of the more rewarding things in life. Read More

I have been teaching music for 8 years, starting while in college. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching students from ages 4 to 20 to sing and play instruments because if you're not having fun when you're doing music, you're not doing it right. I love getting to see my students have breakthroughs as they develop their own musical personalities. I have also enjoyed my work with school and church ensembles ranging from ages 13 to 85 and can help my students have success at any level. Read More

For beginning students, I always start with technique and posture, as improper technique can be catastrophic to your playing down the line. From there we'll cover the basics, such as chord shapes, strumming patterns, and scales. On top of that, each student will receive a "riff of the week", a guitar riff from a song that is in line with their particular music tastes. For example, if the student in question likes Punk Rock music, every week we'd go over a riff from a popular Punk song. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. It is so important that each individual student progresses at his or her own ace. I encourage this progress by setting realistic and clear goals for my students at each lesson. When I acknowledge their accomplishments, it helps to fuel the desire to learn of the student and makes them eager to learn more. Once I find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction towards the wants and needs of my students. Read More

Over 25 years of experience writing, recording and performing original music. I play guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. I was a percussive member of the Bands of America 1997 Finalist Lassiter Marching Band. Member of many bands, including local touring act Ribbit (2005-2010). But mainly music has been a form of therapy for me. The act of creation I find to be one of the most healing hobbies available, and it is my goal to aid others in finding their inner artist!
