For beginners, I start with chord study. I like to incorporate teaching songs the student is interested in. This keeps students engaged and gives them something they'll look forward to practice. Once a basic understanding of chords is achieved, I move on the notes on the fretboard and music patterns and intervals to help gain an understanding of how the guitar works. Then we move on to the CAGED system along with scales and modes, all the while teaching the student songs they pick that incorporate the techniques they are learning, I'm order to keep them engaged and give them something to share and mark their progress. My number one goal is to help my students accomplish their musical dreams, whether that be a classical pianist, a pop singer, the front person for a rock band, write songs or compose music for film, or just sing their favorite song of all time, whatever it takes, I will make sure that we get to the musical destination.
