A review of where a student is in their musical journey is done before any lessons are given in order to make a lesson plan designed specifically for them. I inquire as to what the advanced students want to accomplish with their lessons so they can be placed on a path to successfully reach their goals. All students are encouraged to practice in order to reinforce what they have previously learned. Read More

I've learn that the most important part of educating my students is to teach to their learning style and ability while giving them some strong encouragement and guidance. I first start with an assements of where the students skills are and their mindset. I try to findout what they want to due and what they like to due. Sometimes students dont truly know. This is important for me because it sets the foundation for how the lessons will be planned out week to week. Read More

For beginner students who are children to adults, I like to start by finding out if they have any experience is in singing. I like to get to know what they like, if they have any goals, artists or songs that they really love and why. I love to connect the dots at any age because then I can create a custom plan and understand which practices to take. Once this is covered, I will see what they're range is on the piano. Read More

For beginning piano students, I usually begin with the Alfred Prep Course, supplemented with a notespeller to help expedite learning to read music. I also begin ear training, chords, and solo repertoire as the student becomes ready. For voice students, I begin with breathing, vocal technique, and skill-level appropriate songs. For all students, regardless of instrument and experience, I aim to set goals together with them and use each lesson to advance toward the completion of those goals! Read More

I have no expectations of my students until they show me what they're capable of. After our first two lessons, I start to really stress the importance of practicing on their own time as well. Singing is part muscle memory and your muscles can't memorize what they aren't consistently doing! I use a very kinesthetic approach to my teaching in that I focus on how the entire body feels when my student is singing the correct way versus how it feels when they are singing incorrectly (unhealthily). There are so many methods to use. I started off in the church as a worship leader, piano player, and a drummer. I believe in learning to read music and playing by ear. It is a reason why I teach both. Ear training is good for a lot of churches if you decide to play or sing in one. Not all churches use hymn books but some do so that's why I teach site reading as well. Read More

My style of teaching is very fast-paced but depending on the student. I want to keep the student comfortable but focused at the same time on their goal. I'm all about the needs of the student if they feel that they can move forward and prove themselves of it we can move as fast or as slow as they would like as long as the ending results is growth will it be small growth or large growth. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
