I first started teaching guitar in high school after i got a few lessons from someone i looked up to in high school. From then on i have loved to teach music to all ages!. My longest student started at 12 and by time he was 17 years old i told him he would be having to teach me a few things soon. we became friends and were in a band together for a while until i moved south, i loved having that connection, and i hope to find plenty others like that. it makes me feel good knowing others are gaining from my teaching so i do my very best! All of my piano students play Hannon exercises to build up their finger strength and dexterity as well as scales. I am a versatile music teacher. As an undergraduate at Ithaca College, I learned each band and orchestra instrument from the college instructor. For example, I learned to play the oboe from the oboe professor. We had to make our own reeds and use them to play our final exam. I facilitated individual an group musical collaborations, and helped train people to do the same via workshops I facilitated at conferences. I have also led community singalongs, and taught individual students vocals and percussion over this time. I'm a big believer that everyone can sing and everyone can drum, and that music is a gift inherent to being human that we all can share and rejoice in.
