Tiffany C. mezzo-soprano, received her Bachelors degree of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX, and has also received a Master’s degree in Voice Performance from Florida State University. Throughout her time in obtaining a Bachelor’s degree Tiffany placed 1st in many competitions such as TEXOMA NATS, and South Texas NATS. She has also received various awards such as the Harold Stark Encouragement Award, the Lucila Montoya Award for outstanding performance of a Spanish art song, and the Alice Dutcher Thornton Certificate of Honor. For beginning students, I usually start with a reputable method book that will allow them to advance in "grades" as the skills get better.  At earlier stages of learning, the focus is on the technique towards learning the instrument.  As a student progresses into intermediate and advanced stages, several pieces from the solo repertoire (and if available ensemble pieces) become part of the curriculum.  Throughout the advancement in levels, I try to focus on selecting pieces that the indivdual student will have interest in while balancing pieces necessary for learning more difficult musical techniques. With my piano students, I prefer to use John Thompson’s piano method books, along with performance study, listening, and impromptu music theory/acoustics lessons when the subjects arise. Depending on the practice habits of the student, they should have at least 2-3 non-method book solo pieces prepared within a year’s time. Each lesson is tailored to what he student enjoys, finds challenging, and ultimately will benefit from. My vocal students will find lessons crafted specifically to their current vocal abilities, working on a wholistic approach to singing including acting, prana, yoga, health and fitness, self confidence, lifestyle coaching, and of course, the act of singing! I believe in age appropriate techniques and repertoire, and use both warm-ups and vocalises, along with accessible repertoire to foster technique and give students the tools they need to think through a song on their own. I follow standard Bel Canto technique for all of my students, then teach modifications for each style. Even my belter students are still asked to sing in their head voice for vocal health and balance. Read More

I haven't had much teaching experience, but I have worked with teenagers throughout this last year while getting my Associates of Arts degree over at Lone Star Community College. My high school choir director asked me if I would like to start helping out high school students with providing voice lessons, and of course, I said yes. I helped out three seniors in high school this last semester, and two out of the three of them are actually heading to Texas colleges to pursue a career in music. Read More

Nothing is more satisfying than seeing a student revel in their own personal relationship with music, but to share their love of music, this is paramount.
