Hi! My name is Lauren and I recently moved back to San Antonio after spending 10 years in NYC as a professional musical theater performer. Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of performing all over the country in some of my favorite shows! When I was not on stage, I worked at a reputable music school in Maplewood, NJ called Performers Theater Workshop. Over the four years I worked there, I had many students make their Broadway Debut! I teach always. I teach by example, and I teach formally. My formal teaching background begins in church when I was 19. I did my mom a favor and started teaching/leading the children's choir. It was fun, I enjoyed it thoroughly, and our 2 performances went GREAT! It gave me a taste for it so I became an actual teacher in the SMCISD school district as a Focus Teacher (Special Education). Instruments: Piano Voice Trumpet Euphonium Music Keyboard
I began teaching trumpet when I was a high school student. My students were middle school aged peers within my school district that needed additional guidance. While in college, I maintained two dozen or so students within my own private studio. Some of these students were non-music majors that were given to me by my own voice professor. My primary instrument is the human voice. A complicated yet versatile instrument that is unique in every person, and as such should be treated with specific pedagogical methods that best suit a student's age, skill level, and learning style. I also love to play my own music and covers of songs in my spare time. Read More

I began teaching private lessons in 2006 while working for Walt Disney World Entertainment in Orlando, Florida. I have maintained a studio of at least two students everywhere I have moved, and most recently taught music for a Montessori program and comnnnity college in the Virgin Islands. I build healthy, classically trained voices that are capable of stylizing to fit any genre; and being a composer myself, I teach piano from a musically interpretive viewpoint. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Organ
For beginning students, I usually start with a reputable method book that will allow them to advance in "grades" as the skills get better. At earlier stages of learning, the focus is on the technique towards learning the instrument. As a student progresses into intermediate and advanced stages, several pieces from the solo repertoire (and if available ensemble pieces) become part of the curriculum. Throughout the advancement in levels, I try to focus on selecting pieces that the indivdual student will have interest in while balancing pieces necessary for learning more difficult musical techniques.
