The voice is not something we can see or touch, so I often joke that singing is about learning Jedi mind tricks that help us achieve a healthy technique. I like to incorporate theory/musicianship and some piano into my lessons to create a well rounded understanding of singing as a musician. I am careful to choose the appropriate music for each age. if there is a child, for me is very important the relationship with the parents, because they know a lot of goals from the child. Singing is all about breathing techniques. No matter your age or vocal development, it is imperative that one learns how to breathe correctly. After teaching proper breathing techniques, I introduce many fundamentals of music, such as simple vocal warm ups and sight singing exercises. Of course, as we move into repertoire choices, I always try to find out what my students are interested in singing. For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity.
