I also was a music theory tutor for 3 years employed through the Universitys work-study program. During my undergrad I also started teaching individual voice lessons. Through the my Master's degree at CCM I kept a small private studio of piano and voice students. I am now up to 26 students and work full time teaching and performing. I teach music because I appreciate the joy it brings to my own life and want to share that with others. I have a student centered approach to teaching music with research based methods supported by, not only my own experience, but experts in all fields of learning. The same technique, phrase, experience or activity will not work for every student. It's important to me that I find the one that does by getting to know my students, inspiring them, challenging them and helping them discover their musical selves while still preparing them for any musical goal they would like to pursue. Singing is all about breathing techniques. No matter your age or vocal development, it is imperative that one learns how to breathe correctly. After teaching proper breathing techniques, I introduce many fundamentals of music, such as simple vocal warm ups and sight singing exercises. Of course, as we move into repertoire choices, I always try to find out what my students are interested in singing. I have sung a wide variety of singing styles in my day, so I feel confident in teaching whatever repertoire my students choose to sing. Read More

He is currently working as the Marketing Director for the Gospel Music Workshop of America Inc., Lexington Metro Chapter and has previously worked for the Student National Association of Teacher of Singing – University of Kentucky as their Marketing Director, and The Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center as their Community Outreach Coordinator Intern where he was a key member in the administration of the Lyric Theatre Youth Summer Program. He is also the Founder and former Co-Director of the University of Kentucky Spiritual Ensemble, and former Assistant Director for the West Louisville Boys Choir as well as the former Director for the West Louisville Treble Choir at the West Louisville Performing Arts Academy.
