i have been singing since i was a little girl and began to notice early on how much I loved and enjoyed music! i participated in vocal competitions both in groups and solos and found that I did very well! I went to college to study music and singing and found after taking a pedagogy class that I loved (and was good at!) teaching voice lessons! Sometimes musicianship is as much "caught" as it is "taught." So, it's important to carefully monitor and foster a student's progress. I will use a lot of coaching, affirmation, reassurance, and encouragement to fuel a student's progress and desire to stay with it. Cardinal Singers was also invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall in 2017. I also traveled annually with the group to perform in festivals and international competitions around the world including Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, China, Germany, Poland, Austria, Croatia, and Slovenia and won numerous awards, the most recent being the grand prize at the International Choir Competition Zadar Croatia. I was also involved with the Collegiate Chorale that regularly collaborates with the Louisville Orchestra, performing works including the Beethoven's 9th symphony, Mahler's 2nd symphony, Bernstein's Mass and Chichester Psalms, Mozart's Requiem, and Orff's Carmina Burana. Singing is all about breathing techniques. No matter your age or vocal development, it is imperative that one learns how to breathe correctly. After teaching proper breathing techniques, I introduce many fundamentals of music, such as simple vocal warm ups and sight singing exercises. Of course, as we move into repertoire choices, I always try to find out what my students are interested in singing. I have sung a wide variety of singing styles in my day, so I feel confident in teaching whatever repertoire my students choose to sing. Read More

I believe that with enough passion and dedication anyone can be a musician. Hard work and my love for music have had me teaching private lessons, classes, and ensembles since 2003. My primary focus is in clarinet and composition. But my study and expertise spans also to voice, ukulele, and guitar. I enjoy playing music from several genres including rock, pop, musical theater, Klezmer, band, country, folk and classical.
