Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I have been an educator for about 10+ years (from teaching children in MOPS programs in undergrad to subbing for Hardin Co Schools, to Sunday School, children's choir at my church and a Bible Studies group on Tuesdays but have done private lessons for the past 3 years. I was also an instructor at the Stephen Collins Foster Music Camp, a counselor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and the Music Mentor of the Resident College of Arts in Humanities at MSU. I served as a woodwind specialist for marching bands for several years. I previously taught classes on music technology and composition at MSU and assisted in Early Childhood music classes at CMS. Singing is all about breathing techniques. No matter your age or vocal development, it is imperative that one learns how to breathe correctly. After teaching proper breathing techniques, I introduce many fundamentals of music, such as simple vocal warm ups and sight singing exercises. Of course, as we move into repertoire choices, I always try to find out what my students are interested in singing. I have sung a wide variety of singing styles in my day, so I feel confident in teaching whatever repertoire my students choose to sing. Read More
