For example, for the youngest students, I use the analogy of the seven colors of the rainbow to learn the music notes. Like many singers, I grew up with a love of music. I began singing in church choirs and honor choirs across the country at the age of 8 and started voice lessons at the age of 11. I was in many musicals throughout my teen years and decided to attend college to study opera at Louisiana State University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance in 2012. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals and are introduced to the Belcanto technique, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate, for their first recital performance or audition. I received a Masters of Music in Voice from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and a Bachelors of Music from DePauw University.
