Since 2011, I have attended voice programs at Interlochen Center for the Arts, Brevard Music Center, and VOICExperience, and I regularly work in churches and sing weddings. I recently graduated from the University of Kentucky, where I studied with Dr. Dennis Bender. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals and are introduced to the Belcanto technique, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate, for their first recital performance or audition. Singing is all about breathing techniques. No matter your age or vocal development, it is imperative that one learns how to breathe correctly. After teaching proper breathing techniques, I introduce many fundamentals of music, such as simple vocal warm ups and sight singing exercises. Of course, as we move into repertoire choices, I always try to find out what my students are interested in singing.
