My personal teaching experience began while studying in Phladelphia at teh Unviersity of the Arts. As I started my 5 year Music Education minor/clearence program, I started to adapt what I was learning and develop my own style and flow of teaching. I began tutoring my friends and fellow classmates after school in the music library on campus, teaching them compex jazz theory, ProTools/Logic DAW shortcuts and processes, piano accompaniment, intervals, inversions,  rhythmic dictation, bascally reinforcing what we learned earlier in the class. Im always open to try different techniques and approaches in order to allow my students to open to me and to the music. For students with previous piano experience, I first assess knowledge and ability in order to assign the proper level of either Bastien's Piano Basics or other solo repertoire. For voice students, I conduct an assessment of their individual range and skills in order to find classical or musical theatre repertoire that encourages development of proper vocal technique. I also work with each student to find modern music that they love and will help target their specific singing goals. Read More

For my students, I like to see what type of music they are interested in and listen to a few of their favorite songs. From there we can learn chords (guitar, piano) and melodies for vocal lines. We could go the route of learning scales and theory, but since I didn't grow up learning that way, I'd prefer to go the more modern way by learning strumming patterns, chords, inversions, melodies and harmonies, and teach dynamics to make a song come together.
