After graduating from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 2006 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance, I have continued to perform and broaden my range of musical experiences through diverse engagement in both the classical and non-conventional realms. Performing around the world and working with some of todays brightest and most acclaimed singers, ensembles, and conductors such as Leon Botstein, Dale Duesing, Karen Brunssen, James Hall, Warren Jones, Phyllis Hoffman, Pro Arte, Bard Festival Chorus, Canticum Scholare, New York City Chorale, VOCES8, and many others has been a privilege and immense learning experience. I have always had a passion for teaching! I come from a family of teachers, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to teach. My senior year of college, I took two semesters of vocal pedagogy and I was instantly hooked. I love the science behind how the voice works, and am fascinated with how that applies to each individual. During my time studying music I have learned countless instruments, methods, producing, recording, studio work, and more. I have played with multiple bands over 200 shows, in multiple states as well as composing for Jingles, Television, Film, The internet and Video Games. I encourage parents to teach their children music from young age. Most of my students are kids from age 5-13, level starting from novice to intermediate. I have been practicing tutoring piano for 5 years and voice for 3 years. My teaching style not only includes standard piano playing skills, but also sheet music reading, musical hearing, and proper playing techniques. In regards to voice lessons, I am strongly convinced that knowing musical theory basics significantly improves understanding of vocal basics. Read More
