I will encourage and try new ways to explain or demonstrate a skill that the student is having difficulty with and I will be extremely enthusiastic about their accomplishments. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with breathing and voice building. Each lesson begins with a chat while we gently stretch, breathe and prepare your body to sing. Singers are attached to their instrument and so getting your mind focused and getting comfortable in the singing space allows us to have as productive a lesson as we can. We work on vocalizes and technique next- to properly warm you up and strengthen your instrument. All of the vocalizing we do is then put to work in your repertoire, chosen by me and also including your preferences and anything you bring that you are currently working on. Read More

I'm an engaging and energetic musician/teacher that thrives in helping my students discover their passion for music. After graduating from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts (concentration in Creative Writing and Jazz Studies) in 2005, I have spent the past 17 years helping hundreds of private students of all ages, ability levels, backgrounds, and styles discover their musical voice on their chosen instrument. As an active performing musician, I've played in a variety of bands/contexts in my local community, helping to support, create, and grow the local music scene, while encouraging my students to perform while providing them advice on how to best do so. As I discovered my passion for it I continued to study it in college and graduated with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Music from Rider University.
