I teach a breath based technique with a focus on relaxation. I want to help each individual find their true instrument. I like to use the 24 Italian Songs and Arias (Italian Art Songs) book as a basis for learning breath technique, legato, use of vowels and musicality, as well as being exposed to a foreign language. Alongside of this practice can be musical theater pieces that will target the areas of your voice that need attention and growth. Read More

In college, I taught private music theory lessons to a given curriculum. I also music directed a male-voiced a cappella group, conducted a chamber choir, and music directed and accompanied several musical theater productions. Each of these, to different degrees, requires a one-on-one approach, so no matter what the setting, I am always working personally with the student to determine what it is they want to achieve and help them to get there. I have an extensive library of music books, records and cd's. I am constantly researching new ways to provide stimuli to enhance the musical experience of my students. Read More

For beginner piano students who are children, I use some combination of either the Alfred, Faber or Bastien method books to get them started, but we also play lots of games to help us build on our rhythm and reading skills. I believe that music lessons should be fun and enjoyable for everyone, but that being said I do expect students to practice. It will be much more enjoyable to learn and less difficult for the student if they put the work into learning their music. Read More
