I primarily use the Essential Elements String Method or Piano Adventures books to start beginners on violin, viola, cello, and piano, with a focus on note reading and scales, as well as playing by ear. If you have started on a different method book, I am happy to keep you on track with your progress. I am classically trained, but as you can see, I enjoy playing classical, musical theatre, post-modern, and rock 'n' roll, so I encourage learning the basics and quickly incorporating the music YOU want to play, as you develop your technique. I try to assess each student and develop an individual learning plan for them based on their goals, expectations, and ambitions. Typically for classical piano students, I use Alfred’s curriculum (both the student and Adult levels depending on need) and once a classical foundation is learned, we venture into ear training and learning a variety of genres. For voice students, I start with a full vocal assessment and then based on their desired outcomes, work the client to set a course of learning individualized for them. Read More

I teach a relaxed, free style. I want my students to feel comfortable to move around the room. Our work in the studio is experimental. I am happy with whatever progress we make each week, as long as there is some progression. I particularly emphasize this point with my youngest voice students. All progression is a victory. I have always been passionate about music! I started taking lessons at 8years old and haven't stopped since. I knew right away that this was my calling, that music was going to be my life. I started teaching before I even graduated high school, helping and learning from my own instructors who helped me become a great teacher myself!
