Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student gain confidence in their voice. Singing can be very scary especially at first, but it is my passion to be a cheerleader of the singer. Singing is mostly a mental game, and my passion is to fight that one first. One can have all the technique in the world, but if they don't have confidence, musicality is thrown out the window. So, I primarily focus on giving the student a safe place to make mistakes grow and learn and feel comfortable to explore. Read More

My fellow students enjoyed having me in charge because I made sure that they did not feel inferior. I was honestly just helping them by sharing my knowledge of music. And we all saw vast improvement. Upon graduating I auditioned for the Dallas Opera, but however was not accepted due to my lack of experience. I have had experience however in helping out with some local plays, musicals, or performances. Read More

For me, the most amazing aspect of teaching music is to assist students in developing a musical identity of their own. Nothing could be a greater blessing than to experience students cultivating a personal and profound relationship with the magic of music firsthand, and to be there to help them to further their passion is a gift beyond what I am capable of expressing in words. By sharing the musical knowledge I have gathered throughout my life in lessons that are dynamic and adaptable yet consistent in terms of supporting students' growth, it is my intention to help to nourish students' own love for music, just as others have inspired me to do the same. I began teaching during the time I was in college. I love to inspire students with my own love of music! I also use positive reinforcement (such as stickers) to motivate my younger students to practice and perform their songs successfully. I teach a combination of classical and more contemporary music as well as music history and music theory. I also teach my students to compose and improvise their own songs as well as play by ear. My teaching experience dates back about 20 years. Since then, I’ve taught many levels and many instruments. I’ve taught students ranging from 18 months to 81 years old. I’ve taught many styles;including jazz, pop, and rock. I’ve had students to make videos and win several competitions. My favorite genre to teach is classical. With classical, you can pull all of the other genres out of it. When you learn classical first, everything else seems to fall into place. Read More

I approach each student knowing that every student is unique and so is their learning style. While the information that is delivered to each student remains the same, the manner in which I teach each student varies widely. I try to foster the best student-teacher relationship possible in order to gain the confidence and trust of both the student and their families. I also have much experience teaching students with unique characteristics such as ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, Asperger's, etc. Read More

My main goal and teaching is to inspire self motivation and make it fun! I like to pick songs that are fun to play and challenging at the same time depending on what level you are at that time. By doing this I think keeping the instrument out and not in the closet is a good start that way if the inspiration hits you and you want to play it is within your reach "guitar stand and wall hangers are ideal" and not in the case the put away " Out of sight out of mind" I suggest buying a music stand for your instruments and or wall hangers which seem to work very well as a display and also so the instrument is within your reach.
