I love both teaching and performing voice and piano to all ages. My greatest passion is getting to share my love and lifelong pursuit of music with my students, no matter their level. When I am not teaching, I am often performing as a soprano soloist with prominent groups in Boston and around the country. In my teaching, I value healthy technique, music literacy (it is a language!), exposing students to diverse repertoire, and ample opportunities for students to play active roles in their creative development in music. I also believe that singing is highly physical and I help all of my students with physical exercises to help them become more aware of their bodies and build strength in certain places while releasing others, especially in the belly and abdomen (a place singers often hold so much tension). These exercises are based mostly on Qi-Gong moves which also facilitate smooth, even breathing. While still in college, I was a music tutor at North Star in Hadley For two years. I worked one-on-one with students in middle school on both voice and guitar. During my time there, I taught kids anything from different chords on the guitar, to breath support and passion in one's singing, to vocal improvisation and stage confidence. I am first and foremost a student. I love being a student and love being open to new forms of music and anything to better my education. In May of 2017 I graduated from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. Performance has taught me multiple languages, taken me around the U.S. and parts of Europe, working with the top musicians in the world. I like to begin with the basics of singing technique, sight reading, and music theory. In order to be a successful singer, one must be proficient in all of these! I like to assign music by the second or third lesson, depending on the student's readiness and ability. I typically assign one classical and/or one musical theater song, depending on the student's interest. I start with only these two genres because I feel that singing something that the student can hear on the radio can be difficult to sing while implementing the new technique they are learning in lessons with me.
