Instruments: Piano Voice Saxophone Flute Recorder Piccolo Music

For Beginner students I have them start with the recorder. The instrument allows for a smooth segue to the flute being that the student can see their fingers and the recorder does not require the same air speed and lung capacity that the flute does so the student can pace themselves. For intermediate or advanced students I will go through orchestral excerpts, etudes, or technical studies with them. I follow the same model with my adult students, if they are just starting out I will recommend beginning on recorder to solidify fingerings however the mental and physical capacity of an adult versus a young child are very different. Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice Drums Bass Guitar Organ Synthesizer Ukulele Mandolin Double Bass Keyboard Electric Guitar Classical Guitar Acoustic Guitar

I custom tailor my lessons to each individual student so that they are inspired and equipped to develop both their love and ability for playing. Balancing this with the proper techniques, understanding and exercises affords the opportunity to assimilate the material on a practical, useful playing level. The Joy that the student experiences in their playing as they develop gets transferred to the listening audience and is a very rewarding experience! Read More

Something I feel strongly about in my teaching is a introduction to classical music and style of singing. This is in many ways the most uninhibited, free positioning for vocal production and once a student feels comfort in that, they can move forward and explore different genres without any impediments or things holding them back. They have a root position to return to if they feel lost or have not completely grasped a vocal styling. Read More

My passion for singing had easily translated into my passion for teaching singing. When a student has their "a-ha" moment as they figure out a solution to something they've been grappling with vocally, there is nothing more joyful. I work closely with the student to understand their goals and achieve them each class. I believe in an encouraging and safe learning environment. I am a persistent coach and I will ensure that the student is satisfied with their achievement I each and every class. Read More

Instruments: Voice

In the summer of 2009, after my freshman year of college, started what would become an annual "pop-up" voice studio of 20-30 local students in my hometown who would take weekly lessons for the duration of the summer. Long before graduation, I saw this opportunity as a one to build teaching skills, test my own knowledge, and further instill a love for music and the voice into kids from my home community. A voice lesson to me to should be easygoing and open, while having a task to accomplish. I encourage my students to enter my studio with an open mind and feel free to explore artistically. We set goals together and progress vocally with each song. I have an extensive library of music as well which my students are free to use to find new material. It's very rewarding to guide a student along their journey to discovering their voice! Read More
