My name is Matt and I a professional musician, composer and music educator. I lived, studied and performed in Philadelphia for six years while earning my Bachelors Degree in Instrumental Performance and Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of the Arts. My primary instrument is the upright and electric bass and I currently perform with multiple groups ranging in styles from jazz to rock. After finishing an apprenticeship in carpentry and becoming a certified carpentry journeyman, I worked as a trade showroom carpenter in Berlin and Vienna. For my mandatory conscription in Austria, I served as an ambulance paramedic. I obtained a bachelor's and a master's in music and dance performance and education at leading universities in Salzburg and Barcelona. As we explore the interests of the student within our initial framework, I continue to make suggestions as to where we may have the best success. For adults, I teach based on the interests of the student; however, I also encourage a jazz and classical-based pursuit, as this will inform most other styles of music and strengthen the performance ability and musicality of the student.
