I have recently finished the fourth and final year of my doctorate degree in voice at the University of Oklahoma and am currently working on my dissertation. At OU, I studied with former Metropolitan opera baritone Kim Josephson. I was a good singer when I arrived at OU, but Kim, who has taken lessons from the opera legend Corelli himself, has transformed how I sing. I base my teaching methods on the student I am teaching. For students that are children at a beginner level, I typically begin with the essential elements of creating vocal foundation which I draw from many sources. Once we have set a good foundation, we tend to begin working on repertoire that is appropriate for the level at which they are singing, using those songs as learning opportunities. For adults, I begin by asking about the goals of the individual student and I then formulate a strategy to help the student reach their specific singing goals. Read More

I've taught in New York City, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma since 2009. In New York City, I teach theatre technique at a musical theatre school. In Los Angeles, I teach Alba Technique at an Actor's Workshop. In Oklahoma, working with children, I've taught ages 6-adult, directing musical and theatrical productions like Grease, Les Miserables, Much Ado About Nothing, and The War of the Worlds. For three summers in a row, I attended a summer program for opera in New Mexico. At LEOI, I got to work with coaches and instructors of excellent caliber and reputation in the opera world. I have also sung at Carnegie Hall with the University of Tulsa Capella Chamber Singers in which I was the soprano section leader for the year. Seems I've always been a teacher, even when I didn't realize it; from my school days as first chair helping other students, through college where I taught for the Southern Nevada School of Music and at Vesleys Music Conservatory, through the time I received my first certified public school teaching position and after that as a business owner with employees, I have been teaching and learning.
