Alongside being an artist, teaching has been a great part of my life.  In addition to my artistic career,  I have had the privilege of having a  dynamic educational career!  My first teaching job dates back to 13 years ago.  Since then, my career has branched out into many facets of the field, both as a classroom teacher and as a private instructor.  I have had the opportunities to work with students of all ages, both in the academic and musical settings.  My current educational stint is that of a special educator who works with children with Autism.  In either setting, it is my goal as a teacher to get the student excited about learning the basics and then building the skills, so that he/she may perform to his/her fullest potential.  Read More

My number one goal is to help my students accomplish their musical dreams, whether that be a classical pianist, a pop singer, the front person for a rock band, write songs or compose music for film, or just sing their favorite song of all time, whatever it takes, I will make sure that we get to the musical destination. It's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I always ask my students for one long term goal and one short term goal so that we can cast vision for where we are headed, map out the challenges along the way, but also celebrate the goals that we accomplish especially in the short term. In order to communicate musical ideas most effectively, I feel it is equally as essential to develop the students ear as well as their reading abilities.Each student will receive a personally customized work packet that includes sheet music, worksheets, and possibly audio/video samples. The packet implements training techniques exercises that will develop the students reading skills and ear-training, along with basic theory.The work packets also include sheet music to songs chosen by the students, in order allow them to apply their techniques in ways that are self-fulfilling. I began playing in the seventh grade, and was all-state by the tenth grade. My Bachelor's of Music Ed, and my Master's of Music in Performance are from LSU-Monroe where I was principle in both band and orchestra, and lead trombone in the jazz ensemble. I am a member of the Symphonicity Orchestra in Virginia Beach, VA and the Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra in Atlanta, GA. I have studied under the direction of The Hampton Roads Chamber Players and The Bay Youth Orchestra in Norfolk, VA. Currently performs several times a year at The Biltmore House in Asheville, NC and several other events in the Atlanta Metro area. My experience with vocal coaching started when I was a young girl helping to teach my church's choir parts for songs we had to learn. Once I went to college I joined the Gospel Chorale at Virginia State University where I helped guide the alto section for a month long European Christmas tour. I had the pleasure of coaching and singing on tour twice while in college. I graduated and went into teaching my own lessons while also assistant teaching for choir at a middle school. Read More
