My teaching methods are relatively universal. With younger students, I focus more on learning to have fun while learning about their instrument at the same time. The more fun they're having, the more likely they are to stick to it. For adults, I keep this same philosophy in tact, but incorporate more technique, theory, and performance practice into our sessions in order to facilitate the learning curve. Once I know what my student enjoys about music, I tailor my lessons around that. Read More

I start beginning students that are interested in learning to play guitar with rhythm for the strumming hand. I will then move on to the fretting hand to finger positioning as well as learning the notes (on the guitar fingerboard) as heard at concert pitch. Music theory will be taught as applied to the guitar. I do not use any published books for teaching but prefer to develop my own lessons plans customized to each students interest and ability. At the age of 17, I flew to Hollywood, CA to attend Musicians Institute where I studied Bass Guitar Performance. Learning from and playing with some of the best musicians in the business was amazing. I left school to hit the road with my first professional band. I spent the next 20+ years writing, recording and touring all over the country. I was lucky enough to be in a few bands that landed indie recording contracts, which allowed me to tour nationally doing original music, with songs I had written being played on radio and on TV shows across the country. I've been playing music my whole life. My father is my biggest inspiration. I started my training at Peabody when I was 5 years old in their music exploratory program. Next I studied cello for many years. When I was a teenager about 13 I started trying to hold my cello sideways and that's hone my father bought me an electric bass. In the NAVY I picked up the guitar and I've been professionally playing for over 25 years. Read More

I'm a dedicated music teacher who loves motivating my students to be their best. I teach voice, piano, and guitar, as well as beginners on brass instruments and steel drum. I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and a minor in Spanish. I love music as a way to challenge myself and others, to communicate things that words can't say, and to take us to new and exciting places. Read More

My methods are not standard, I believe in teaching technical sides of an instrument and the creative sides. For younger students I will teach them the basics of chords and progressions, eventually leading to write their first songs. For young adults and adults I want to have them learn chords, styles, and the uses of their instruments. Creativity will always be the most important thing to hone. Finding inspiration through practice and jamming with a friend or even a teacher is something I want to teach. Read More
