I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 1998 I graduated from Music Concervatory in Lithuania and have a piano digre in performance. Teaching over the world has been one of the greatest experiences in my life. I had a great opportunity to perform with my students at the biggest concert halls in Manhattan and Long Island. Every year I have 30-40 students performing on the stage. Read More

For beginners I usually start them off with two books, Stick Control and Funky Primer. I then pair what they learn from those with real world examples and try to incorporate that into songs that they want to play. For more intermediate students we focus more on developing their musical vocabulary and all around versatility. We go more in depth on rudiments and using them around the kit. We also start covering music industry fundamentals and the skills they need to market themselves as a musician and how to put together or find a band to start gigging with! Read More

I've actually written and produced my own music theory book that was in all Borders stores before they closed down. I've learned a few methods and I try to incorporate them all unless the student or parents wants something specific. My method is a method where I can teach 1 thing countless ways. I love my students to learn theory because it is a very important backbone to music. Some people can play instruments without ever really kwoing what they are playing or understand the theory behind it, and I think it holds them back from truely being creative and understanding of music. With my methods students will be able to play from any genre, any book, and hopefully will be able to create their own music. Read More

I am comfortable teaching with many piano methods. Some of my favorites include Alfred, Faber and A Dozen a Day Series. For more advanced students, I often recommend the Music for Millions Series or Bastien Piano Literature. For jazz, I often use Hal Leonard's "Your First Fake Book" and the "Joy of Jazz". All my students also get a strong foundation in scales and theory. I also stress learning all the notes on the grand staff and there are many good apps for this on tablets and smart phones. Read More

I love music and I love teaching! I took piano lessons as a child, was in a band as a teenager, and began giving piano lessons in my 20's. I teach all styles of music, sight-reading, music theory and ear training. For those students more more interested in learning pop or jazz, I give special attention to chords and "lead sheet" playing. I have worked with many singers to teach them how to accompany themselves on piano. Read More

As I mentioned in the previous section, I started playing music in my early middle school days, as I needed an art requirement for school. However, I quickly grew to love music as an art form. In addition to teaching music (which I have done on and off for about 4 years), I also enjoy teaching in and of itself---I have worked as a substitute teacher, a personal trainer, and a martial arts master at various points in my life. My teaching style is versatile but with distinct steps. The first step is exposition, the second is reason and the third is connection. There is something so rewarding for me but more importantly for the student when their face opens, they say (and realize): "Oh! I get it...." The catharsis of experiencing music, understanding music and connecting with the music. This is the ideal sequence that I hope to achieve with any and all students. Read More
