For students of all skill levels, I begin by communicating with them about their goals and continue on with a gentle warm up. I then guide the student through various exercises that are designed to improve and strengthen specific areas of the voice, specific registers, problem areas, and so on. I haven't had much teaching experience, but I have worked with teenagers throughout this last year while getting my Associates of Arts degree over at Lone Star Community College. My high school choir director asked me if I would like to start helping out high school students with providing voice lessons, and of course, I said yes. I helped out three seniors in high school this last semester, and two out of the three of them are actually heading to Texas colleges to pursue a career in music. Read More

I teach always. I teach by example, and I teach formally. My formal teaching background begins in church when I was 19. I did my mom a favor and started teaching/leading the children's choir. It was fun, I enjoyed it thoroughly, and our 2 performances went GREAT! It gave me a taste for it so I became an actual teacher in the SMCISD school district as a Focus Teacher (Special Education). For students who are young children, I like to start working on fundamental musical and singing concepts, including posture, breath management, pitch matching, music literacy, and expression. I work with each student to find songs which are appropriate for their voice, and songs they are excited about working on. I have performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, overseas in the EU and Brazil, and performed in the US premier of "Waiting for the Barbarians" here in Austin.
