My approach is simple: find out what the student wants to gain from lessons with me, and work towards that goal. To do that I try to break the larger goal into simpler ones, so that students can experience the journey of learning something new, and can not only meet their goals but exceed them and walk away with something they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. I love to teach my students the basic tools of what it takes to be a professional musician, whether or not they are into music as a hobby or as a serious profession. I currently play drums for the hit Broadway musical (non-union version) of Rock of Ages and when I'm not on the road; I'm teaching. I’m an avid columnist for Modern Drummer Magazine and I sing/play guitar for one of Chicago's best Nirvana tributes called Smells Like Nirvana. Read More

I offer classes for adults and children according to the Seth Riggs and Brett Manning techniques, with the help of which the vocal apparatus and natural resonators are developed to the maximum. We study the theory for the vocalist, modern styles. We will practice a sense of rhythm, improvisation, work with a microphone. I work with picking, range, smooth transitions of registers, filling voice, vibration. I show a variety of vocal sounds and manners, helping to personalize the singing style. Read More

For Vocalists, the very foundation of proper singing will be taught: Posture, Breath Management, Muscle/Core Control, and Vowel Placement. These are the basics of good singing, in any genre. I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. But don't worry! I wont get overtly technical. I manage to teach the basics without you trying to multitask 100 different muscle groups while singing. Read More

Not one lesson is the same. I cater each lesson to the student. Every student is different and have a different learning style! With my first lesson, I love to sit down down with the student and/or the parent and to discuss expectations and get to know the student. I also determine what level they are at so I know where we need to begin. Every student has their own unique experience. Read More

I began teaching people how to play instruments when I was in high school, by teaching new students to the band how to play percussion. I then continued teaching once in college by volunteering at local high schools helping new students to the band programs learn brass and percussion. From there I worked with the Rich South high school band director and the Jack Hille middle school band directors. Once I graduated college I taught choir and instrumental music for the catholic school system for two years. Read More

My teaching style is heavily based on empathy and drive. To be where I'm at right now in my musicianship, I was once in the position of not knowing what to do or how to get better, and I know how intimidating or nerve-wracking it can be to perform for another person. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, which creates a sense of continuous progress for the student. Read More
