Music is deeply personal; one must get to know each student's own personality, interests, and connections to music. Early on (both in the teaching relationship and in each lesson) one must assess where the student is, as to technical and musical growth, and with the music at hand. Then one finds, models, explains and encourages the next steps the student can achieve. Clear guidance and dialogue about what will happen outside the studio (listening, practice, rehearsal, performance) helps turn the weekly cycle of lessons into an upward spiral of progress, achievement, and reward. I love helping people discover their unique potential and passion for music! It is important to me to understand the complete student; by learning about what inspires a student, I am able to be a better teacher to that student. The music teacher-student bond can be very special, and I strive to make meaningful, positive relationships with all of my students. I am enthusiastic and encouraging to my students, and I am always sensitive to individual needs and learning styles. Read More

Assessment is the task during the first lesson. I must determine the student's voice type, and what style of music the student would like to pursue. If a boy's voice hasn't yet changed, I'll assess whether he is an alto or soprano. I'm a keen believer in teaching one to sightread and encouraging one to improvise with his/her instrument! For sightreading I shall introduce The Trinity College, Sound at Sight. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

Nothing makes me happier to see the passion that someone has on music. I think it’s important to practice and practice your craft. It takes time and effort to become the performer you want to become. I wanted to inspire everyone that they can become there full self as a performer, artist etc. I want to work together and see the full potential that I can push you through in any pace you need to follow your dream. I am a native of Flower Mound, Texas, and I was first introduced to the joy of singing in my church’s children’s chorus at the age of five. I belonged to that chorus until I graduated from Marcus High School in 2013. In addition, I was a member of my school choruses beginning in fifth grade. I was very fortunate to perform at the 2013 ACDA Convention as a member of Marcus High School’s Varsity Treble Choir. Read More

The beauty of studying music is that there is always something else to learn, but the most moving and fun part of singing is communicating ideas and poetry. I aim to develop personal ownership of songs/repertoire in all students (no matter their age) alongside the instruction and study of healthy vocal technique. When I teach a voice student, I'm teaching more than only music. I teach anatomy (bone structure, posture, alignment, breathing, jaw movement, etc.), vowel formation, language pronunciation skills, music theory/history, basic music reading, and poetic interpretation.
