Using the techniques modeled from the International Voices of Mix, an assessment is taking on the syllable Ahh, on either a 5 tone scale or 8 tone. This is done to listen for various breaks in voice. Secondly, I give them individual exercises and short music excerpts that they enjoy and we can learn together. It is important to slowly introduce music that is a little more challenging and that will keep them engaged and knowing of their improvements. My teaching style is friendly, honest, and positive. I teach students how/what to practice and aid them on their musical journey at whatever starting place they may be. At the first lesson I begin teaching them how to develop an awareness for the concepts/tools we are exploring, so that they can continue growing in their practice at home during the week.
