I am a graduate of LIU Post who holds a Bachelors of Music in Music Education, Trombone Studies. During my time at LIU, I spent time taking lessons in clarinet, tuba, baritone horn/euphonium, piano, and trumpet. I am currently a Chorus/General Music teacher in Roosevelt. In addition to my day time job, I have maintained a small low brass studio but am looking to expand. I am a trombonist in North Shore Wind Symphony for the last 6 months, working with some of the best musicians on the island, under the baton of two of the most talented conductors. Read More

My biggest goals for teaching are to provide a student with a comfortable space to be vulnerable, allow them that space to promote learning, and create a plan for students that allows them to achieve their personal goals while growing their love and passion for music. At the end of the day, lessons are work, but music is meant to be enjoyable and something they can be passionate about. I want to help students set realistic goals and be able to achieve them within a reasonable amount of time. Read More

My teaching style encourages the student to have fun, be expressive, and get curious about music. I keep things very simple in my lessons. Each student I have ever taught progresses at their own pace. So for me as the teacher I work in the lesson to give them the tools they need to work. It is very. important in lessons to acknowledge the student's accomplishments so that they are aware of where they are growing. Read More

I have a deep passion for the convergence of theory and performance, because I believe that understanding the theoretical reasons behind musical decisions opens up vast realms of experimentation and creativity. Consequently, my teaching style revolves around the marriage of music theory and performance, so that my students can learn how to build on the foundation that has been laid by the musicians who have come before us. I believe that it is the educator's duty to tailor his or her teaching to the unique learning style and needs of each student. Read More

My approach is always to encourage a student to stop using language like that was bad or that sucked. Its not the best or most productive way of getting you freer and singing with less tension or nerves. What I look to motivate in a student is becoming aware of any tension or nerves and explore where it comes from. Become an analyst. Oh, I just my chin out everytime I have to sing an E vowel really high on the staff. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I start with the book "Learn to play piano" for piano students and for guitar "Learn to play guitar." It is a basic book with specific essential elements for reading and understanding music. As the student progresses I use to introduce songs for their repertoire applying what they leaned in the book. For Voice lessons is more practice, which includes exercises for breathing, diction, tune, Corporal expressions among others. Read More
