These exercises help to strengthen students middle voices, extend their ranges, increase their agility, and increase their stamina. For my piano students, I use different method and technique books in order to help my students learn the basics.  This includes how to properly read their sheet music so that they can pratice their skills by themselves.  I also use repetition and demonstrate different pratice skills so that my students can further advance their piano skills. I am a third-year undergrad at NYU, studying Music Education with a concentration in instrumental performanceand I love it! I firmly believe that experiencing music and being inquisitive are invaluable to learning how to play music. Studying music is not just about learning the material and regurgitating it, but discovering why a moment of music is cool and examining what about that moment makes it hit you in the right spot. I will be the guide that the student needs when he or she does not know where to go with his or her studies, but I want to encourage students to bring in music they want to learn, or discuss music that they think is cool and use that as a jumping off point into our lessons. Since moving to NYC, I have also started teaching at the New City School of Music in New City, NY. I find that teaching has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had while in music, and I often feel that I have learned as much from teaching as from my own study. I firmly believe that it is as important that students learn basic musicianship skills such as sight-singing and music theory as learning their instrument of choice, and I try to incorporate these elements, among others, in voice lessons.
