A warm up I use to take care of this issue is asking the student to make a fire siren noise and I go up an octave (ex. do-do, re-re,mi-mi). When parents can involve as our teammate, It will definitely speed up the improvement, and the result will show quickly. When students can play well, the backstage heroes are always the parents.
