I want my students to feel comfortable and confident when they perform. Music should be fun! I believe in positive reenforcement and finding a pace that is comfortable for the student. I'm a fun, motivated and passionate instructor. I graduated from McGill University's Schulich School of Music in 2009 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, with voice as my main instrument. Since then I have been teaching and performing around New York at historic venues such as Birdland, The Plaza, Iridium, Bitter End, amongst others. I have also recorded an album with Grammy nominated producer and arranger Rob Mounsey and perform with the world-famous Postmodern Jukebox. I have taught a variety of genres, ages, and levels of students. Through my performance, recording, and teaching experiences, I’ve acquired substantial knowledge to bestow on my students. It’s a true gift to be able to share my love of music and to help my students reach their potential. Read More

My teaching style really depends on the student taking the lessons. It's important to set realistic goals each week for students that way they can progress at his or her own pace. Recognizing accomplishments goes a long way to fuel a student's desire to progress and makes the student coming back to learn more. By finding out what inspires the student to play, I can tailor my methods to their own wants and needs. Read More

I'm a dedicated singer and lifelong lover of voice, concerned with how the healthy body creates dynamic sound regardless of genre. My teaching technique is based in the idea that all healthy sound is generated from a coordinated and healthy instrument, and my lessons are based around that concept. Graduated from New York University in 2014, my experience includes a wide range of styles and sounds from Pop to Opera to Musical Theatre. Read More

Learning. It has to be fun. Case in point: I usually select repertoire’ that is conducive to the students learning but often out of their safety zone. The student usually responds quite favorably to new genre’, but if they don’t, we move on to another song that won’t just help them learn, but will be fun or enjoyable for them to learn. Enjoy the process and the learning will happen organically. Read More

Beginning students who are children are introduced to the joy of music not just by singing songs, but in a course that teaches music literacy, vocal technique, and ear training as well. Most importantly, we are having fun while taking this journey. As for older teens and adults, I discover what interests the student and guide my instruction accordingly. We typically spend the first 30 minutes working technique exercises; this includes focusing on body awareness, the movement of breath, and core of the sound. Read More

What thrills me about education is the unexpected discovery: the discovery of connection between individual disciplines or the realization of ones own creativity or a deeper comprehension of lifes vitality, all of which lead to a revivified awareness of humanity. As a teacher, choral director, and educational theatre director, I strive to incorporate my knowledge and love of music, theatre, and learning to create a world in which my students and I are able to deconstruct barriers to our understanding of subjects and our place in the world, whether that be as musicians, writers, artists or scholars.
