McDonald’s GospelFest Finalist
Americas Got Talent Contestant
Debut Ep Released
I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves helping others and watching them grow with their voice. I grew up around singing ever since I was a kid. I began leading praise and worship at my church when I was only 8 years old! I studied music theory at SUNY Orange in Middletown, NY. In 2010 I had the opportunity to work with some Grammy nominated producers to create a single with my family entitled “Hope”. In 2014 I was a finalist for the McDonalds GospelFest at the known “Prudential Center” in New Jersey. In 2020 I released my first Ep entitled “Choose” which is on all streaming platforms.
My teaching experience goes all the way back to when I was about 12 years old. I would teach parts to my local choir, as well as choirs around my community. I’ve worked with people my age as well as individuals who were old enough to be my parents. Singers would join with no singing experience or ability & leave with new skill & confidence. Through the years i’ve found that most people have the ability but lack the confidence to be a good singer. In order to be an effective vocalist you must first believe that you CAN SING. No matter what level you’re at right now having trust in yourself is one of the most important tools to progress.
For beginning students I like to teach basic techniques. Scales, breathing, knowledge etc. Once the student starts to get comfortable with the beginning stages I introduce songs that I believe will challenge their voice. I listen, critique, and offer knew options of note placement & tone. My goal is not to change the way the student sings but to enhance it and clean it up. For adults I like to do my own scale that I have created that open the vocal chords and increases range both low and high.
I love seeing my students develop a deeper passion for music! I work extremely hard to pull on every student to ensure that they are getting better and seeing results everyday! At the beginning of each session I set goals or expectations to meet by the end of the session. Seeing quick progress increases a students desire to keep striving & want to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. After one session students will realize their potential!
Josiah is a great teacher, I love working with him! He’s amazing!! Definitely worth learning with him
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
