With my education being from one of the world's leading contemporary institutes for music, I have a diverse resume of music experience. I have performed in many different venues like Symphony Hall and Agganis Arena in Boston where I attended Berklee College of Music. My original instrument is viola. I took up violin, guitar, and voice short after. Instruments: Piano Voice
I'm a very passionate and caring teacher who loves nothing more than to share my love for music. I've had sixteen years of formal professional training in piano starting at the age of four, as well as six years of cello which I played in the ASYO for four years. I also was the middle and high school pianist, church and choral accompanist from grades 6-12. I was pointed towards being a concert pianist had I continued in performance. Read More

I have a natural innate ability to teach and to help students to understand the joy of playing the guitar. My motivation and passion is the love of teaching. I love it when my students have an “aha” moment of sudden insight or discovery about the guitar. I am very patient and encouraging with instruction toward students, never causing them to feel unaccepted or discouraged. I continually create an attitude of unconditional positive regard toward their lessons and their ability to be successful. Read More

In short, each lesson will simply include the use of traditional written and aural theory, scales, chords and arpeggios as well as cater to the genre/repertoire preferences and the student's own unique learning style and personality. I encourage effective practicing strategies during the lesson as well as communicate with the parents on how they might enforce practicing at home. Above all, the most important aspect of the learning process is to have FUN. Read More

I really covered this in the above information,so continuing in more detail,it really depends on each individual student, their level of ability and age that determine the course of study. It also depends on the instrument. Some instruments like piano, violin or viola, books are more practical because the music is notated. With most fretted instruments, music is written in tableture which was originally used for the lute and brought back i think in the 1970s.Its easier than reading music and is more practical for those instruments. Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Viola Flute Piccolo
For beginning students, I like to start from Essential elements, Suzuki 1, or Piano Adventures. Students will also likely have a theory workbook or worksheets that match the level of their current repertoire. Intermediate students, we will start using a program called smart music that plays the accompaniment for pieces that we are working on. This will really help develop a great internal sense of rhythm and help students recognize immediately when something needs correcting. Read More

My first experience teaching someone was when I was younger in my high school days, I was teaching my 7 year old nephew how to play ukulele which was an arduous task indeed. But through said trails and tribulations we managed to accomplish our goals together. Currently Im teaching guitar at the fine arts academy and I am teaching one student consistently while also substituting occasionally. One thing I have learned through teaching is that actually listening to music during practice is a big help and motivation which I like to include in sessions. Read More
