As I previously mentioned above,I show each student as much as they can pick up.I can show a student just about anything they want to learn, but its really about how much they practice at home that determines their ability. If the student practices a lot we move much quicker and it becomes more fun and challenging.Music is endless and you can never stop learning.they are proving more and more every day how music affects your brain. When you just listen to music, you use every part of your brain.Few things do that. When you play music you are using even more of your brain. It is extremely important to me that every student benefits from his or her own personally tailored lesson. This means that there is no "cut and paste" lesson plan to use with each student. Once I get to know the student, I will be able to judge their level of playing ability, their ability to read music, how good their posture is, how good their hand position is, etc. It is also important to me to get to know the student's personality, so that when teaching, I can help make the student feel as comfortable as possible during the lesson. I love teaching the violin!!, my emphasys is in the real true and with love every thing. There are many ways to teach an instrument, one of them is from the perspective of visual memory, or I know, there are teachers who demonstrate first and then the student tries to imitate what he hears and sees There are also others who speak and ask for what they want without demonstrating anything, because obviously they are no longer at the level playing or because they have a condition in their hands or fingers, and they get things by speaking, making themselves understood by the word. My approach to teaching varies with the age level of each student. With younger students, imitation is often one of the best methods of learning and I prefer the Suzuki method for students up to age 8, especially with strings. For older children and adults, learning music notation and basic music theory for a full understanding of musical language are more important to get them to the level where they can learn any music that they want to play for fun. I began playing violin in fifth grade at age 10 and loved it immediately! I continued to play through college, then began my career as a college English professor while raising my family. While teaching at City University of New York (CCNY) I played with the BMCC Downtown Symphony. After moving to Montclair, NJ I played regularly at St. Mark's Church for eight years before moving to Largo, Florida, where I continue to do orchestras and solo performances. Read More

I begin with developing sheet music literacy in my students right off the bat if they have no experience in reading music. I believe music literacy is one of the most important aspects of learning an instrument. I've always said, "not being able to read sheet music is like trying to be a writer who can't read, it makes no sense". I also begin with teaching proper form. Meaning how to hold the instrument and how to use proper technique. Read More

When teaching strings to beginners I tend to teach out of a string methods book but I also offer stylistic direction outside of the book. I find this method helps the student with dependency of string books and helps to harbor curiosity to the vast world of music and methods beyond one book. I offer compositions fit to the level of the student and give them the opportunity to bring them up to performance standard. Read More
