I am an advocatefor putting the music in the body. I studied with a professor for 6 years who was an expert in Dalcroze Eurhythmics which focuses on singing with gestures and dancing out rhythms and melody lines.I love solfege and incorporate it everychance I get when learning a piece. Each individual learns at his/her own pace in his/her own way. Getting to know my students with a free consultation helps me get an appropriate lesson plan together. Once started, I am always thinking about how to fine-tune things as we go. I like to cover a variety of material during our practices, but make sure to send you home with your own folder of print-outs for personal reference. Read More

My teaching began in the late 1990's as professional musician in the United States Marine Corps teaching new Marine Musicians how to double & triple tongue and play minor scales as well as Greek Modes.I enjoyed the challenge of teaching someone a skill or technique. My reward is watching the lightbulb come on and them master the new skill. I have played professionally for over 15 years and taught flautists during this time. Read More

My teaching style feels relaxed but I work hard to keep students in their least restrictive environment. We dont want the student to be too challenged or bored. For this reason I am flexible with the content we work on and the order in which we complete different parts of the lesson. I give a lot of choice to students, maybe one day they want to start with working on some improvisation and want to work on their assigned pieces the 2nd half of the lesson. Read More
