Instruments: Guitar Voice Ukulele Music

For every one of my beginning students who wants to start playing the guitar or singing, I will alway start them off the best and most knowlegable way I know how, which would be a beginners guide. I started with Hal Leonard's Essential book 1 when I first started learning, and I have always used Hal Leonard's Essential guides for my students.  If a student is an intermediate, I can find out where they're at and help them with any handicaps they may have, and point them in the right direction. ***Important note: I am able to teach online via SKYPE or FACETIME as well as in home or studio. Hello! I've been teaching music as long as I've been performing, going back many years. I'm an energetic, supportive teacher and coach, who is focused on each student's needs. Since I've performed worldwide in many different genres, I'm very comfortable working in styles ranging from pop to musical theatre, jazz and blues to classical music. I've taught voice at Berklee College of Music, and several other schools, where I've enjoyed teaching people of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities. Read More

I teach the student as much as they can absorb while making sure they understand the material.I have never run out of material to teach.I teach proper technique and about scales because every song written is based on scales.I also work on songs with the student at the same time so they can see and understand how the songs and scales are used together. After the basics are understood we move on to songs the student wants to learn.I can also tailor lessons to a students wants or needs if desired.I have been doing this quite a while and understand what works. Instruments: Piano Voice Trumpet French Horn Music

I have B.M. in Acoustic Composition and Electronic Music, 10 years of playing/performing French horn, 5 rigorous years of piano instruction and performance, and a whole lifetime of singing. During my time obtaining my degree, I learned about a plethora of subjects--standard, 18th, and 20th-century theories, theoretical applications, old and new compositional and performance techniques, timbre blending and sonority, standard and experimental notation practices, music business/marketing, etc. These extra areas of expertise lend for well-rounded color for the lessons I teach. Music has been a part of my life for over forty years. I am passionate about guitars and interacting with an audience. I have this ability and passion with great patients to help others enrich their lives with self-expression through learning to play the guitar. A seventh grade music teacher taught me three chords and gave me an old guitar and I have never been the same. I really want to give back what she gave to me. Read More

I began teaching private music lessons during my college days. I was taking music education classes along with my performance degrees and the combination of the classes made me feel like i could teach lessons in a new and innovative way. A big focus in my curriculum is music theory. Music theory is such an important backbone to learning your instrument. I feel very confident that students will feel a complete understanding of the pieces they work on, because of the emphasis we put on theory. Read More

My teaching methodology is centered on each student's needs, goals and age. Textbooks can be used when requested, but are not always necessary for every musical style/genre. Each student has different strengths and these must be assessed and reinforced in relation to the student's musical needs. I usually do this by first finding the student's range, vocal timbre, vocal production method, comfort zone and musical taste. Students may chose whether they prefer to learn western musical notation, music theory and Jazz/pop standards.I do recommend that each student learns basic notation and music theory. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
