The fundamentals of singing can be explained in 15-20 minutes, but it takes a lifetime to master them. Wherever you are in the pursuit of voice, it's necessary to develop reproducible, reliable technique. Singing is breath, vowels and consonants, and feeling, and how the three of them interact is crucial to having a sustainable, easy, and fun instrument. This is where the work is. The first half of each lesson is spent on vocal exercises and technique, and the second half is spent working on repertoire, applying what's been learned in an effective and lasting way. Read More

The number 1 key to a great lesson is to ensure the student is comfortable within the lesson and that they are having fun. For Vocal lessons in young beginner students, I typically walk through a few fun silly warm-ups, and breath exercises to get their voice moving free, then allow the student to sing "happy birthday" or another short song to determine pitch range. I recommend Mel Bay’s “Children’s Guitar Method” and Hal Leonard’s “Guitar Method Book 1” for school age children. However, many of my students have decided to concentrate on learning basic theory involving chords and scales to develop ability to play ‘by ear’. When working with voice students I focus on basic theory, breath control, and vocal scales to develop student’s ability to discern musical intervals. Read More

I solely trained in Europe and took classes from vocalists like, Katarina Lange-Frohberg, Sigfried Lorenz and Christiane Bergold.I have moved to the United States in 1996 and have been working in the education and performance field of musical theater.
