Instruments: Voice Music
I have had the amazing opportunity to study under many experienced teachers with many different methods and strategies. I would strive to combine all the best methods I've learned and succeeded with to pass on to the next young singers just starting out. I am passionate and motivated to share my love of music and singing to those just beginning in this industry. It's important to focus on the fun and spirit of singing as well as developing a strong technical foundation. Read More

I am a dedicated and determined voice teacher, with a passion rooted in the desire to develop a healthy vocal technique. In 2022, I graduated with my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Binghamton University. Over the past ten years, I have spent time performing on stage in concerts, operas, and musical theatre. Some highlights of my singing career include touring through parts of Austria and Italy, working with music professionals from Juilliard, and competing in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Listening! I want to hear from the student why they're excited to play the instrument, in my case learn how to sing or play guitar. Every person and thus every student will be different. Some people find certain things easier or harder than others, so even if say I were teaching say two students of the same ability or progress level I wouldn't just give them excercises out of a book I'd customize the lessons so they could develop and build upon their currentskill level. The first half of a typical voice lesson is spent on vocal warm-ups and vocalises. These consist of scales, arpeggios, vowel unification, breath work, etc. and have been accumulated from many teachers over a variety of traditions. Vocalises are the most important part of a solid vocal technique. The second half of lessons is spent working on repertoire either brought in by the student or assigned by myself. Concepts from vocal warm ups will be applied to repertoire, and students are expected to practice on a regular basis outside of lessons. Read More

I have been teaching over 8 years. I had the privilege to teach at a very young age at my teachers’ request. I tutored students who needed extra help, or had failed their exams. I taught oboe, piano, solfege, harmony and ear training. At the time, I didn’t know how much responsibility I was taking on. But, after seeing all of them pass, I realized I could do more than help them succeed in one class. Read More

I believe music should be fun and the process of studying it should be fun. But like everything else, it has challenges, and I think the fun part should be finding solutions to those challenges. I will give them fun exercises and I will give them questions to think about. I'm also quite patient if the student doesn't get something, and I will use different ways to explain it until they can fully understand. Read More

I do tend to assign, as mentioned elsewhere, listening homework. I do this because I've seen it help students learn what they want to and need to learn faster as well as help students learn to like, love, or at least appreciate new things. The main point here is that every student is complex, difficult, and hard insomuch as teaching method required, but my passion is so great that I don't see issues or problems but rather new opportunities to get students excited about learning and demonstrating what they've learned.
