By my sophomore year I had begun taking on private cello students. Fast forward to six months post-graduation, I had myself a full schedule between my private studio and a local music school I was contracted by. At my peak I had near 60 recurring students young and old across six instruments, 40 of which regularly performed at out semi-annual recitals! For beginning students I usually start with Essential Elements 2000 for strings because it helps them get familiarized with the notes on the music staff even when they don't have any music theory knowledge. I also like to use Suzuki as they progress with the instrument and know the essentials like how to hold the instrument properly and how to hold the bow properly. Suzuki is also for beginners but it has a little more complex exercises which is why I wait to introduce Suzuki to them. Read More

Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and knowing the strength behind private lessons as opposed to group lessons only.
