Also-when I teach the beginning student-it is great to see how that student develops his/her playing over the days/weeks/months. It is good to have constant attention of the teacher because of learning to play the pieces in correct way is very important. On a first lesson, i will assess where you or your student is in terms of playing ability, based on that we can decide what comes next. Typically, if a student is brand new we will start with learning the basics of the violin and reading music using various excerpts and hands on experience. What really fueled my fire was a two week camp in Potsdam, New York in 2007 where I was given the chance to stay in a college dorm, meet professors, work with graduate students, and play challenging music in the selected ensembles. I started playing violin at the age of nine through my elementary schools string program. In addition to performing with the Discovery Middle School and Timber Creek High School orchestras, I participated every year in the all-county and all-state orchestras and served as associate concertmaster of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra. I completed a double major in general music and engineering at Northwestern University in Chicago. I have professional performance experience playing violin in orchestras, as a pit musician for musical theater and for freelance gigs such as weddings. Read More
