I'm well trained in the Suzuki repertoire and philosophies, however I teach a combination of traditional methods and also have the ability to exclude one or the other. For beginners and young children, I teach note reading simultaneously but separately from the applied side of playing. Holding the violin and bow, for example, are very challenging and require time to focus on them individually. As a specialist of the music of the Caucasus, I not only performed but also lectured at the Wayne State University, Columbia University, Arizona State University, and the University of Alberta. For all of my students, I let them pick a song (vocal) or piece (violin) that they would like to sing or play. This way I can analyze what level they are on. For my voice students, I start with vocal warm-up exercises of the different vowels. It helps me to understand their range as well as tone of voice. I have been teaching private violin lessons since I was high school student. I have also taught private and group/string orchestra with the Atlanta Music Project and Chapel Hill Middle School in Atlanta, Georgia. Most recently, I worked with Lessons in Your Home in Miami, Florida. As a college student, I performed in various gigs in the Atlanta area. I was active at my university in the chamber music program as well as the Emory Symphony Orchestra, where I served as the principal second violin chair and played an 1870 Scarampella violin. Read More
