My goal is to make the student as independent of the teacher as possible. For this I help them form a foundation on which they can build for years to come. I teach reading music as well as playing by ear (a wonderful skill rarely taught on the piano). My students cover a wide range, from bluegrass to concert classical. The correct technique is, in my experience, the one that will be able to underlay any musical style. For example, if the left hand is flexible and well-formed, then blues, Bach and flamenco all will come more easily. I am a freelancing violinist here in MA. I got my bachelor's degree in music performance from Boston University. I have played with some excellent orchestras in New England and eastern USA. I'm a member of the AFM local 9~535, and still perform and get gigs with some excellent orchestras.i have a nonprofit organization the Charles River Sinfonietta, that gives mostly chamber music concerts.
