My teaching experience began 6 years ago when I was a high school senior. I began teaching students in my local orchestras, as well as adults wanting to start out. When I moved back to Long Island after graduation, I began teaching the same age levels. In New York, students are often encouraged to participate in NYSSMA Festivals, thus I have gained extensive experience preparing students for violin and viola solos. Read More

I like to keep my teaching style a balance between being strict but also patient when needed and keeping it fun! I like to have open communication with the student or parents of the student to figure out what kind of teaching style they might prefer. If you want to be challenged and pushed, I can provide more strict instruction to make sure your goals are being met. If a student or their parents prefer to take it easy and just have a good time learning a new instrument, I will also be on board with that! Read More

I set different goals for each student. I realize that every student learns at a different pace and has special ways of comprehending the information. I want to push the student to work hard, but would never give them more than they can handle. I want my students to love music and look forward to practicing each day. I look for different ways to inspire them and motivate them to want to learn more. Read More

The most rewarding part of being a teacher is to see your students grow and love their musicianship. Music is a language that is more universal than any other language in the world! Passing on the knowledge and works of composers and artists from yesterday to today. I set realistic goals for my students that are achievable and rewarding. I tend to look on the positive side of each performance and I teach through kindness humor and respect. Read More

Before anything, I find out what the goal of the lesson is. I always want to know what the students want, so I can plan around them. The lesson will always be about the student! After discussing the goal of the lesson, we will find repertoire, etudes, or other materials that either benefit the student technically, or will simply be enjoyable to the student. Since the goal of the student can either be anything, including playing professional recitals, or simply playing a Taylor Swift song from the radio, my priority will be that the student is enjoying their craft. Music should not be boring or intimidating, so I teach to my students' personalities and their comfort levels. I will ask my students to try rigorous exercizes but I will do so in a manner that is fun and rewarding, not exhausting. I enjoy adding humor to my lessons and I like to keep the mood light and conversational because music is as much about connection and communication as it is about notes. Read More
