I have mentored young violinists and coached chamber music ensembles since 2006. For the past three years, I have taught in-home private lessons, with ages ranging from 3 to 60. I teach violin and viola at the Third Street Music School Settlement, and in the spring of 2014 was the violin instructor at P.S. 278 in Inwood. Read More

I like to be flexible and change up my method depending on each student's needs and goals. Most of the time, I start beginners off with a book such as A Tune A Day, Suzuki Violin School, String Builder, or the Hal Leonard. I also provide other handouts with exercises and additional material. After some time, I like to introduce new etudes and pieces that suit their current level but also provide challenges to help them grow. Read More

I am a NYC-based humanitarian filmmaker, dancer, musician, carpenter and teacher. I speak English, German, Catalan, and I can get by in Spanish. A dual Austrian/American citizen, I am authorized to work in the United States. From kindergarten to high school, I attended a Rudolph Steiner school, which laid my foundations in art, music and carpentry. In high school, I managed the school theater lighting system and wrote a thesis on stage lighting. Read More

Again this can be likened to an athlete who no longer trains. Also like an athlete this is something that does get easier the more you do it. That being said it requires less of a time commitment than many may think. One of the goals with my students is going to be to find entertaining ways to build that consistency. We'll make practice a game. A challenge to overcome, or a boss to beat. Read More

I'm a career string quartet musician who loves both performing and teaching. I graduated with a Master of Music degree from McGill University in Viola Performance. I've been lucky to have many amazing opportunities so far: I've performed in Carnegie Hall as a member of the New York String Orchestra Seminar; in Yokohama and Tokyo, Japan; and in Salzburg, Austria (the birthplace of Mozart!) as a member of the Milton String Quartet. For beginning students who are children, I typically begin by introducing them to the various parts of the instrument, along with the basics of technique and position. New notes and concepts would be introduced through learning familiar songs and pieces. All parents are encouraged to attend their child's violin lessons so that they can aid practice sessions. For adults, I try to find out what the student is most interested in learning, and devise a plan with the student accordingly in order to keep the lessons engaging and fun. Read More

I have been teaching privately and in group classes for the past 6 years. This past summer, I taught a chamber orchestra of kids ages 6-12 in Narni, Italy. It was a truly rewarding experience. Most of my experience is with teaching private lessons. I am open to teaching all ages and levels. For violin, I teach mostly beginners and intermediate students, but can teach all levels for viola. I encourage my students to play recitals so that they can be proud of their accomplishments! Read More
