My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 15 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 10 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I adjust all curriculum based on the needs of their students, in order to play up their strengths and address their flaws. For beginning students I start with Suzuki books until about book 5 and then begin to branch out into other repertoire.  I teach students to read music as well as basic theory. I also incorporate playing by ear and improvisation. These are important skills which help students develop into flexible and well rounded musicians.   Read More

Mostly I just helped them with their pieces for orchestra and their group lessons at school, but during the summers I would often help them move along in their repertoire and give more of my own technical and musical input to expand upon what they had done in school all year. I have been playing the violin for over 25 years and I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I really love. I hold a Master's and Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.
